The symbol of Aci Castello is its Norman Castle, built almost a thousand years ago on a spur of lava rock overlooking the sea. From any point in the village you look at it, it seems born from the same lava on which it rests. Today it houses a small civic museum and a panoramic terrace from which your gaze embraces the coast, the Faraglioni in the distance and, on the clearest days, the profile of Etna. The climb is short and the view from above rewards every step.
Below the castle, the village unfolds between small squares, small churches and the seafront. The lava cliffs descend gently towards a deep and transparent sea: at Aci Castello there is no classic sandy beach, but platforms and coves where you can sunbathe and dive into the clear water. At sunset, an aperitif with a view of the illuminated castle is a small local tradition that is hard to resist.

In a few minutes you reach Aci Trezza with its Faraglioni dei Ciclopi, while within a handful of kilometers you arrive in the historic center of Catania or set off for a day on Etna.
